The whole experience of making and teaching sushi in a kampong was a revelation. Since I love cooking so much, I’m always drawn to the latest kitchen gadgets, to the extent that I have amassed a huge collection of every kitchen tools you possibly could think of. I have been so immersed with all these [...] The sushi party at A-bang’s kampong is certainly one of the most memorable highlights of my career. I had a lot of fun and visited many great cities in search of food and its meaning but I never would have thought I’ll ever stepped into a Malay kampong to actually teach the locals sushi-making. I [...] I never grew up in a kampong and I never thought I missed out on anything. Haha…but one visit to my new friend’s kampong seems to have changed my opinion. You are now reading how a fairy tale became reality. We had the tremendous oppportunity to teach Japanese cooking to a Malay village in Malaysia. The family we were with, never had sushi before, never had any Japanese food before and imagine how I feel to be the one to introduce them this wonderful cuisine. Even though this is my 2nd visit to Taiping, I cannot remember much about it. If not for this filming I don’t think I will be back here again.
