From windows to doors – we walked and looked through them. We closed and hide behind them. They shelther, guard and protect those inside. Interesting doors and windows in Europe this summer. In fact I think this weather is best for a day out at the beach…it’s after all the May Day long weekend anyways…find a nice spot by the beach with an icy cold mai tai would be nice, baking under the [...] The past weeks must have been a tough time for many hawkers in Singapore. First it was news of the Indian rojak stall then we have another food poisoning case from another steamboat restaurant also from Geylang. Things cannot be more serious than it already is. In the former, the news that 3 lives (including 1 unborn) were lost over [...] This is a good place to check out good local food in K.L during the day. Once you’re inside, you’ll find a range of vegetables, seafood on sale and local favorite cooked food available. The stalls pictured on the right is famous because it has been on several TV programs in the region. Most recently [...] Ok I know I am in this state of going nuts over the fun in K.L but there is further proof that their rice roll or noodles is indeed different and better in more way than one. From 5p.m WJLJ turns into a hokkien mee haven. Yes this is the same store that serves Cheong fun in the morning but the fragrance of stirfry lard and garlic fills the air come late afternoon. It’s official. Not only do K.Lites have the right to make fun of the Singapore’s version of ketchup wantan mee, for the record, I want to make it known that K.Lites also have better and more fun not unlike us but, the fun I am referring to is actually Cheong fun or steamed rice rolls. [...] Some months back I posted on how those who really loved wantan mee can only get their fix from those in Malaysia or the original K.L version prepared with the REAL dark soy sauce (no ketchup pleasssse). A while back I got some very good sambal ikan bilis chilli sauce so I thought I could make some nasi lemak at home for a change. Nasi lemak is sentimental dish because it was what a group of us used to make when we were students back in Honolulu. |
