Baked crab and mushroom
There’s really nothing much you would feel like doing on a hot and humid Saturday afternoon. In fact I think this weather is best for a day out at the beach…it’s after all the May Day long weekend anyways…find a nice spot by the beach with an icy cold mai tai would be nice, baking under the hot day’s sun would be a good way to spend the holiday.
Nay. Forget it. This weather is too much to even dream about doing that. In fact I think I only want to stay indoors, where there’s AC…in mall…in a restaurant…and enjoy a simple lunch and away from the hot sun.
Have you ever walked into a restaurant and hijack it? Haha…I don’t hijack in that hijack sense. I mean you walk into a restaurant and demand that they serve you with good food, providing you relief from the heat, temporary rest for the weary, ice-cold water for the thirsty, food for the hungry and of course you’ll be paying for it all. That’s how I felt when I found my way to Buono.
Buono is an Italian trattoria nested among Serangoon Gardens. The restaurant is not very crowded when I was there – 3 or 4 tables of diners and it’s away from the main busy retail and shopping streets. Hey, this is probably the perfect place to relax and chill…well-covered in AC for me to enjoy my mai tai in comfort. Just the right place for this hungry soul to catch a respite.
This is just my first visit but I can guess it is probably a place popular among local residents. I thought the food is nothing to shout about…pizza wasn’t really my kind of pizza ( I prefer thin crispy crust) in general the food is normal by most standards I would think but I particularly loved the baked crab mushroom – something that brought me much relief and pleasure. The creamy crab paired well with the sweet balsamic reduced dressing is prefect! Prefect for this weather, prefect for me to indulge in a little pleasure even on a hot Saturday afternoon.
I got my relief and I am happy with this hijacking. =)
Buono is at 27 Lichfield Road (6733 5646)
