K.L Beef Kway Teow you must try!
Ok I know I am in this state of going nuts over the fun in K.L but there is further proof that their rice roll or noodles is indeed different and better in more way than one.
I came across this beef kway teow stall (recommended by Malaysia’s Most Wanted) along the main road (where all the buses stop to pick up passengers) in Petaling. Even though I was already stuffed but I thought I should really try since I’m not staying in KL for long.
The beef is minced and braised in a traditional herbal broth. Because there is not added seasoning in the kway teow (no dark sauce or light soy sauce or oyster sauce), it has a delightfully light yet mildly herbal and savory taste from the braised beef. Before eating, give it a good toss and you’ll see all the gravy coming out from the beef and you’ll fall in love.
The Kway Teow is magical! I find myself stopping to chew with every bite because it is just different. It is chewy but not sticky while clinging to your teeth for a split second. It is the most wonderful sensation of eating kway teow. It is like the kway teow that has “life” in it with every munch. In comparison, local kway teow is “lifeless” and seems overdone. Something is definitely missing in our local kway teow I concluded. And the portion is right right for you to get a kick but not too overwhelming. Just enough for you to fall in love with it. Try it and I’m sure you’ll agree.
I feel the beef ball is also more chewy and dense than ours the beef soup is stronger than local beef noodles, with extra punch of chinese herbs but is pleasantly satisfying also. There are about half a dozen tables inside so expect to wait during busy lunch times.
Highly recommended if you visit K.L!
