Last stop – Ritsuri National Park, a listed must-visit for all visitors to Takamatsu. Part of a compound of a former shogun residence.
Spend an hour there guided by an elderly park warden who showed me some of the most beautfiful trees and bonsai I’ve ever seen. There are 2 parts, north and south garden…this is a great place to relax and breath in the goodness of crispy fresh air. After that Andy and Tamai san gave us a ride back to our hotel but I know the view, the air, the colors, the sound of flowing water…it’ll remain in my mind for a long long time. I love your city, love the food and I think I can get used to this life.
Thanks for a wonderful memory. Thanks to the city office officials – We parted ways and I really hope I can get to see our friends in Singapore someday soon.
Dinner awaits. And for the 1st time in 24 hours, I did not have udon.
Found my way to a chicken BBQ specialty shop that was also featured in the UDON movie. It was packed with customers and they serve their chicken leg whole. Grilled to a charred musky aroma with the frangance of fat and seasoning dipped and served together with the plate. Garlic fried rice, salad (yes i needed some greens), tofu and braised mackerel (yes some seafood pls) and my grilled chicken were laid out before me on my table. It seems surreal. No udon for the 1st time in a day. Wow….
The chicken leg was tough and chewy. It’s different from the ones we have for our hainanese chicken rice (tender and juicy), this meat is tough to chew on but extremely flavorful, I could just lick off the fat and gravy. Put it over a bowl of rice or braise it with noodles will be prefect I thought…yum yum.
After my meal, took a long walk back to the hotel and all set for tomorrow’s trip to Osaka.
So here I am, 3 days in Sanuki 8 bowls of udon later and tons of walking to burn off all that calories, I’m heading to the street food capital of Japan; Osaka renown for the infamous takoyaki!
